PRIORITIES

Cuyahoga County

Poverty, Affordability & Economic Mobility

Cuyahoga County has one of the highest child poverty rates of any major metro county in the country. That is not a statistic, it is a policy failure we have the tools to address. I will use my experience managing federally funded community investment projects to:

  • Advocate for county investment in affordable housing production and preservation

  • Champion targeted anti-poverty programs that address root causes, not just symptoms

  • Use the county's convening power to align institutional partners around shared affordability goals

Job Stability & Workforce Development

A good job is the most powerful anti-poverty tool we have. My background managing Special Improvement Districts and capital projects gives me direct insight into what employers need and where workforce pipelines break down. I will push to:

  • Invest in place-based workforce programs tied to Priority Corridor and transit investments

  • Support earn-while-you-learn pathways and partnerships with community colleges and trades

  • Align economic development incentives with job quality standards and local hiring requirements

Innovation, Networks & Regional Competitiveness

Cleveland has world-class institutions in healthcare, higher education, manufacturing, and the arts. What we lack is the connective tissue that turns those assets into shared regional prosperity. My background equips me to:

  • Champion county-level strategies that strengthen regional collaboration and reduce municipal fragmentation

  • Connect small business ecosystems to larger institutional supply chains and anchor procurement

  • Support innovation infrastructure investments including broadband, transit tech, and green industry

Climate Resilience & the Path to a Climate Refuge

Cuyahoga’s greatest long-term advantage may be its freshwater access. As a Lincoln Institute Vibrant Communities Fellow and chair of sustainability initiatives at the municipal level, I understand how land use, infrastructure, and environmental policy intersect. I will work to:

  • Advance green infrastructure investments in stormwater, tree canopy, and urban heat mitigation

  • Support regional planning that prepares for and actively recruits climate-driven population growth

  • Advocate for equitable access to green space and environmental quality in every neighborhood

Safety, Justice & Human Services Reform

Public safety is not just about policing it’s about having the systems in place so that people in crisis get help, not handcuffs. My belief in evidence-based approaches to reducing harm, including robust diversion programs, behavioral health infrastructure, and a county jail system that is humane, efficient, and focused on outcomes. I will bring my coalition-building experience to ensure that the county's health and human services reach the people who need them most:

  • Support investment in diversion centers and co-responder models as alternatives to incarceration

  • Advocate for behavioral health funding that meets residents where they are

  • Ensure accountability and humane conditions in county correctional facilities

  • Strengthen health and human services delivery for vulnerable populations like seniors, children, and those experiencing housing instability

Connectivity & Regional Infrastructure

My dual experience as a city council member and a city planner gives me a rare, interconnected lens on how communities function. I understand that transit, streetscapes, broadband, and land use aren't separate issues. At the county level, I will advocate for investments that connect people across municipal boundaries to jobs, services, and each other:

  • Champion county support for RTA and transit investment as an economic and equity priority

  • Advance complete streets and walkable corridors that link residents to employment and services

  • Use planning expertise to help municipalities cut through bureaucracy and deliver results faster
